The Black Velvet Band is a freely adapted scene I created, inspired by the old Irish song with the same name. The tale is of a woman that feeds innocent men drunk or steals from them, tricking them into problems and crimes. Her neck, it was just like a swan’s. At one night she snuck a pocket watch of a man, slipping it in the pocket of another. The judge sends them to Van Dieman’s land, and the woman goes freely. With the world at her feet and the devil on her shoulder.
