In August 2022 I was diagnosed with a giant cell tumor in the knee area. As a coping mechanism, I started working on a series of paintings build around this subject. The Tumultuous Birth of Tiny Tom is a fantasised depiction of my surgery, not as a removal of the tumour per se, but more as a rebirth. The birth of a new and improved version of my old self.
